While some properties are franchised and have certain flooring specifications they are bound to, other independent properties do not. These clients can use what we like to call “budget” carpets. To elaborate, the major difference is in the fiber we use. Although made specifically for the hotel/motel industry and have been used for decades, olefin and polypropylene fibers simply are not quite as durable as the nylon fiber franchises usually require. On the positive side, these fibers are usually half the cost. On average, depending on traffic volume, olefin and polypropylene fibers can last 3-6 years where as nylon has a 4-8 year expectancy.
